How Scaffolders document today – and what it costs
A scaffold can only be used once a competent person has inspected and released it — and again after every modification, after a storm or a long standing time. With 60 scaffolds standing at once that means dozens of inspections a week, release tags, blocks, modifications by other trades nobody reported. Today this sits on the inspection protocol at the scaffold, in a spreadsheet in the office and in the crew leader's head.
That costs: after the storm nobody knows for sure which scaffolds have already been re-inspected. A trade removed a deck and nobody reported it — the scaffold counts as released.
