Linking Databases

Connect two databases to cleanly map related master data, such as customers and their assets.

Überblick

Some master data belongs together—such as a customer and their assets. By linking databases, you can easily map these relationships.

Schritt für Schritt

  1. Define the Relationship

Determine which databases belong together, e.g., 'Customers' and 'Assets'. In this scenario, each asset belongs to exactly one customer.

  2. Add a Link Field

In the 'Assets' database, add a field of the 'Link' type and use it to reference the 'Customers' database.

  3. Assign Entries

Assign the correct customer to each asset. This allows you to see at a glance which assets belong to which customer.

  4. Use in Protocols

When you select a customer in a protocol, the matching assets are automatically suggested. This speeds up form completion and prevents errors.
